Moved on to Open Forum:
·
Hanshi Neal Talked about having a good year as a whole for the
KST
·
Sensei Winters talked about using a special KST graphic to be
used when endorsing events for the KST. He also talked about marketing concepts.
·
Hanshi Campbell had five new ideas.
1. Have a
kids tournament for ages 4 to 12 under black belt only
2. Have a
black belt 1st through 4th degree and 5th
through 10th degree kumite only tournament.
3. Split
year into four quarters, and every three months visit a KST member school and
award a student and instructor of the quarter a plaque or trophy that they would
keep at their school for three months. Then pass along the award to the next
student and instructor. Also keep track of the winners names and at the end of
the year the KST could pick a student and teacher of the year and then take them
out to eat with the “Four Horsemen” (Dr. Steward, Hanshi Campbell, Hanshi Neal
and Hanshi Albrecht)
4. Start a
new division at the tournaments that we will call the Traditional KST Kata
event. We can select forms that all KST members would learn and perform. We
would award a trophy or award per age group that the winner would keep until the
next tournament, and then he/she would have to defend their title at the next
tournament. If they win it again they would keep the trophy and if they lose
then they would pass the trophy onto the next winner. We would have to decide on
the selected forms to be used as traditional KST forms and we would try to not
leave out any style or system.
5. Find a
symbol that the KST can use to stitch on the Black Belts and Master’s belts, to
show that your rank promotion came from the KST Association. We would only use
this emblem on 1st Dan belts and above.
Meeting motioned to be
adjourned at 8:49 PM by Hanshi Neal and 2nd by Dr. Allen.
Next meeting set for July
2003.
